American Ambulance Association's 7th annual Stars of Life Celebration

Acadian Ambulance Paramedic Jason Hunt and Operations Manager Porter Taylor met with Congressman Bobby Jindal in Washington, DC to discuss health care issues in honor of National Emergency Medical Services Week. The week celebrates the service and heroic efforts of the skilled and dedicated men and women who give the EMS symbol its true meaning by providing lifesaving care whenever and wherever it's needed.

WASHINGTON, DC— Acadian Ambulance Services Paramedic Jason Hunt and Operations Manager Porter Taylor were among the 100 plus Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics from around the United States who were honored in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the American Ambulance Association, the 7 th annual Stars of Life Celebration included meetings with their senators, congressional representatives and a special reception at the U.S. Capitol. The “Stars” were honored for their heroic actions and dedication to the communities they serve at a special awards dinner where they received a Star of Life medal.

Hunt, was also selected by his peers as the 2004 recipient of the Acadian Ambulance Paramedic of the Year Award. “Jason was selected to represent Acadian Ambulance,” explains Acadian Chief Medical Officer & Executive Vice President Dr. Ross Judice, “because he epitomizes the spirit and commitment of emergency medical services. He and Porter both work hard to support the high standards we set for Acadian.” Hunt and Taylor also had the opportunity to visit with Congressmen Melancon, Jindal, McCrery, Baker and Jefferson to speak on health care issues as they relate to the pre-hospital care field.

The American Ambulance Association recognizes how America's ambulance professionals are our health care safety net--always there when we call. AAA President Bob Garner said, "The American Ambulance Association has been the leader in recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of dedicated ambulance personnel across the country each year with its Stars of Life event each year in Washington, DC. This is the single largest gathering of outstanding ambulance service personnel in the nation, and the American Ambulance Association is honored to be the host of such a distinguished group of emergency medical services professionals who give so much to their ambulance operations and the communities they serve across America," said Garner.

The AAA is based in Washington DC, and represents more than 750 ambulance operations providing emergency and non-emergency medical transportation services across the United States. Founded in 1979, the AAA's Mission is: "To promote health care policies that ensure excellence in the ambulance services industry and to provide research, education and communications programs to enable its members to effectively address the needs of the communities they serve."
