FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, July 22, 2005

Officials of Acadian Ambulance Service have announced that Bobby Todd has been selected as a finalist for the 2005 Paramedic of the Year award. Each year the medics of Acadian Ambulance Service select one of their peers as the outstanding paramedic of the year. Todd represents Central Louisiana area and is stationed in Rapides Parish.
“The honor we pay to our Medic of the Year for outstanding service is shared by all Acadian medics, and especially those who were bestowed the honor of nominee,” said Vice President of Operations, Terry Arceneaux. "The nominees bring a high degree of professionalism to their jobs, as well as an attitude of caring and concern for the people they serve. We are proud to recognize Bobby as an outstanding medic in the field of emergency medical services and as the Medic of the Year Nominee for the Central Louisiana operations.”

Todd joined Acadian Ambulance in 1984 as a non-EMT. He has since worked in Baton Rouge, on Air Med as a flight paramedic and is now stationed in Alexandria. He was also recently recognized by the Board of Directors of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians for achieving twenty consecutive years of National Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician. According to the Registry this is an honor held by few.
You could say that emergency medical services is a “family affair” for Todd. Not only is his wife, Michelle, a paramedic, she is also his partner. Todd’s oldest son is also a paramedic and his daughter is enrolled in the National EMS Academy in Alexandria, soon to be an Acadian medic.

In Todd’s nomination his peers said, “Bobby understands that even with all of his specialized medical training the power of human touch and genuine caring often is more beneficial to patients that we care for every day at a time in their life when they are at their most vulnerable.”

Todd volunteers his time to Rapides Parish as a first responder and as an EMS instructor. He resides in Colfax with his wife and two younger sons.
The 2005 Medic of the Year will be announced at the annual Paramedic Luncheon on October 28 in Lafayette. Former United States President George Bush will serve as guest speaker for the event where more than 800 guests from the medical community, elected officials and public safety agencies are expected to attend.
