FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 26, 2005

Officials of Acadian Ambulance Service have announced that Jessica Irving has been chosen as a finalist for the 2005 Paramedic of the Year award. Irving represents the Jackson County medics. Each year the medics of Acadian Ambulance Service select one of their peers as the outstanding paramedic of the year.

“The honor we pay to our Medic of the Year for outstanding service is shared by all Acadian medics, and especially those who were bestowed the honor of nominee,” said Director of Operations, Danny Lennie. "The nominees bring a high degree of professionalism to their jobs, as well as an attitude of caring and concern for the people they serve. We are proud to recognize Jessica as an outstanding medic in the field of emergency medical services and as the Medic of the Year Nominee for Jackson County.”

Irving joined Acadian Ambulance in 2003. Irving’s peers in their nomination said, “Jessica is honorable and hard-working. She goes above and beyond to help out her co-workers in need. “

In addition to her full time Paramedic position, Irving runs the day-to-day operations of the volunteer fire department and handles recruiting and training of the volunteers.

The 2005 Medic of the Year will be announced at the annual Paramedic Luncheon on October 28 in Lafayette. Former United States President George Bush will serve as guest speaker for the event where more than 800 guests from the medical community, elected officials and public safety agencies are expected to attend.
