FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, July 20, 2005

Officials of Acadian Ambulance Service have announced that Briana Briscoe has been selected as a finalist for the 2005 Paramedic of the Year award. Each year the medics of Acadian Ambulance Service select one of their peers as the outstanding paramedic of the year. Briscoe represents the New Orleans area and is stationed in Orleans Parish.

“The honor we pay to our Medic of the Year for outstanding service is shared by all Acadian medics, and especially those who were bestowed the honor of nominee,” said Vice President of Operations, Steve Kuiper. "The nominees bring a high degree of professionalism to their jobs, as well as an attitude of caring and concern for the people they serve. We are proud to recognize Briana as an outstanding medic in the field of emergency medical services and as the Medic of the Year Nominee for the Orleans operations.”

Briscoe joined Acadian Ambulance when Acadian expanded its operations last year. Briscoe’s peers in their nomination said, “Briana has demonstrated an extremely high level of compassion towards not only her patients and their families, but her peers and the multitude of individuals she deals with on a daily basis. Briana is genuine in her approach to life and is always willing to assist or teach others.”

Briscoe and her husband, Corey, reside in Slidell with their 3 sons, Ryan, 4, and twins Matthew and Dylan, 2.

The 2005 Medic of the Year will be announced at the annual Paramedic Luncheon on October 28 in Lafayette. Former United States President George Bush will serve as guest speaker for the event where more than 800 guests from the medical community, elected officials and public safety agencies are expected to attend.
