FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 24, 2004

Officials of Acadian Ambulance Service have announced that Lisa Valadie has been selected as a finalist for the 2004 Paramedic of the Year award. Valadie represents the Mississippi service area and works in Rankin County. Each year the medics of Acadian Ambulance Service select one of their peers as the outstanding paramedic of the year.

Valadie became a Nationally Registered Paramedic in 1989 and joined Acadian Ambulance in 2002. “Lisa is a dedicated paramedic who prides herself on treating each patient to the best of her ability,” states Danny Lennie, Vice-President of Operations. Lennie adds, “Lisa is respected among her peers and uses her experience to better the EMS field and to educate the public. Lisa’s idea of pediatric immobilization straps will be featured in the national publication EMS Magazine this summer.”

Valadie has dedicated the last seven years of her life to Rankin County. She volunteers her time to promote child safety, including performing car-seat checks and injury prevention in day care facilities. She is active in educating students in junior high schools as well as mentoring high school seniors who plan to go to Paramedic school.

Valadie, her husband, Charlie, and their four children, Erin, Adam, Patrick, and John reside in Clinton, MS.

The 2004 Medic of the Year will be announced at the annual Paramedic Luncheon on Wednesday, August 18 in Lafayette. U.S. Senator John Breaux will serve as master of ceremonies for the event where more than 800 guests from the medical community, elected officials and public safety agencies are expected to attend. Scheduled as guest speaker for the event is Surgeon General Richard Carmona.
