Jason Hunt named 2004 Paramedic of the Year Finalist for Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, and West Baton Rouge parishes

Officials of Acadian Ambulance Service have announced that Jason Hunt has been selected as a finalist for the 2004 Paramedic of the Year award. A seven-year Acadian veteran, Hunt works in East Baton Rouge parish. He represents Ascension, , East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, and West Baton Rouge parishes. Each year the medics of Acadian Ambulance Service select one of their peers as the outstanding paramedic of the year.

“The honor we pay to our Medic of the Year for outstanding service is shared by all Acadian medics, and especially those who were bestowed the honor of nominee,” said Vice President of Operations, Danny Lennie. "The nominees bring a high degree of professionalism to their jobs, as well as an attitude of caring and concern for the people they serve. We are proud to recognize Jason as an outstanding medic in the field of emergency medical services and as the Medic of the Year Nominee for our district.”

Hunt’s peers in the nomination said, “Jason is a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated professional who is respected by his peers and the local management team. Jason represents what all of us in the emergency medical profession should strive to become.”

In addition to his full time Paramedic position in the Baton Rouge area, Hunt is a Basic Life Support Instructor and frequently participates in public education events. He also assists at the National EMS Academy in Baton Rouge.

Hunt, his wife, Felicia, and their son, Jared, reside in Baton Rouge.

The 2004 Medic of the Year will be announced at the annual Paramedic Luncheon on Wednesday, August 18 in Lafayette. U.S. Senator John Breaux will serve as master of ceremonies for the event where more than 800 guests from the medical community, elected officials and public safety agencies are expected to attend. Scheduled as guest speaker for the event is Surgeon General Richard Carmona.
