FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, August 18, 2004

Acadian Ambulance Service Paramedic Jason Hunt was honored at the company's annual Paramedic Luncheon Wednesday as the 2004 recipient of the Dr. Arthur Vidrine, Jr. Memorial Award . Named for one of Lafayette's pioneers in the upgrading of ambulance service to its present advanced level, the award is presented to the outstanding paramedic of the year, selected from nominations by his or her peers.

Hunt was nominated as the delegate for the Capital City Area representing a consensus of his co-workers and the local management group. In the nomination, Hunt was described by his fellow employees as an “exemplary employee with many commendations to his credit. His name is often cited in shift reports for initiative, hard work, and a very positive attitude.”

Hunt has been a member of the Acadian team since June of 1997. He joined Acadian's apprentice class shortly after graduating from McKinley High School in Baton Rouge. After achieving his EMT-Basic certification, he rose quickly to the rank of Paramedic. In addition to his full time position of ground paramedic in the Baton Rouge area, he is a BLS instructor and is currently a candidate for ACLS instructor. Hunt frequently represents Acadian Ambulance in the public education arena and also assists at Baton Rouge's National EMS Academy as a part-time instructor.

Hunt's volunteer work extends to his community as a regular teaching assistant at Glen Oaks High School in their medical magnet program. He is also an active member of Living Faith Christian Center, where he serves as an assistant teacher to the church's youth. A former Boy Scout, Hunt also attended Southern University.

Jason resides in Baton Rouge with his wife, Felicia and their son, Jared, age 2.
