FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, October 20, 2004

As of October 1, 2004, (AIS) Acadian Integrated Solutions’ Training Center in Maurice, Louisiana, was approved by the United States Coast Guard to teach the Medical First Aid Provider (MFAP) and the Medical Care Person In Charge (MCPIC) course. According to the Coast Guard, AIS is the only training center in the state of Louisiana that offers both courses.  The Medical Care Person In Charge course is designed for masters and chief mates and those who have already completed a Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) 8 hour first aid and the MFAP 40 hour course.

Offered monthly, the MCPIC course gives students the opportunity to develop or update the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to deliver serious or episodic illness or injury at sea. Students will also develop the skills needed to effectively use medical telecommunication services. After completion of the MFAP course, 48-hours of continuing education are awarded and 45-hours are awarded for MCPIC.

AIS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Acadian Ambulance Service, is a “one-stop-shop” solution for health, safety, and environmental issues within the petroleum industry. The training center offers advanced safety and regulatory compliance training, marine survival, confined space entry, crane and rigger training, as well as a fully operational fire school.
For information on any classes offered by AIS call 337-893-2451.
