Acadian Ambulance Begins Service in Lufkin, Texas

June 7, 2017-Acadian Ambulance has received a permit to operate in the city of Lufkin and has begun providing service.

The Lufkin City Council unanimously approved the permit at its meeting Tuesday. The Lufkin Fire Department provides 911 service; however, Acadian will serve as its backup and will provide facility-based transports. The city has two hospitals, 10 nursing homes and serves as a medical hub for the region.

Day-to-day supervision of the area will be provided by Operations Supervisor Victoria Martin, who will be based in Lufkin.

"We appreciate the City Council's action and the trust they have shown in our company," Regional Vice President Michael Burney said. "This is a natural extension of our Southeast Texas and Houston service areas, and we look forward to serving the residents of Lufkin."

Founded in 1971, Acadian provides emergency and non-emergency medical transportation to 37 Texas counties and the Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio metro areas. The company is owned by its employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services.
